Easter Meets Spring 13"x33" Oil

I'm excited to share what I am working on. Here are the steps a painting goes through. 

This is the first in a series of scenes: "a view from my window."

1. Prime the 3/16" wood panel

2. Color block using transparent oils

3. Gradually add a combination of transparent and opaque oils, starting with the background area and moving into the foreground. 

4. Add more layers, bringing in highlights and shadows.

I'll update this post with more photos as the scene progresses. 

I plan to hang this in my studio but may be able to part with it for someone special. :)

Garden Retreat

This is an area in my backyard that I view from the kitchen window. Gazing upon such a beautiful setting may be the reason why I don't mind washing dishes. :)

Note: the colors in the painting are much more saturated and brilliant than the photo shows.

These potatoes are freshly washed, sitting on the cutting board, waiting to become something new. The question is, "What to make?" This is the question I have on a daily basis. I open the refrigerator and look in the cupboard, taking inventory of what I have and contemplating my options.
